The recent articles and letters form the Northern Victorian Irrigators published in local newspapers claim that Coalition members of Parliament are responsible for the failures of the just released Murray Darling Basin Authority’s Guide, in particular its failure to do adequate analysis of the social and economic impacts on communities.

Murray Darling Basin Authority was given a loud and clear message this morning at its first community Information session: that a 35-45% irrigation cut would devastate local irrigation dependant communities.

According to Dr Sharman Stone, the Federal Member for Murray, the announcement of the Murray Darling Basin Authority’s Sustainable Delivery Yield proposal for irrigators was always expected to be against the nation’s interests.
