Local irrigator Frank Carmichael has been forced to reduce his stock and work off the farm after paying years of water and licence fee’s for drainage diversion water he no longer receives and is unlikely to ever receive again.

Ignoring the ability of the nation to feed itself, 33 of Australia’s so called "top" freshwater scientists have called on the Federal Government to further cut water to irrigators on over-allocated systems in the Murray Darling Basin.

The Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics (ABARE) has now officially confirmed what we all know about the dairy industry.
Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray, said the annual report shows the average dairy farmer has forecast a loss of $44,000.
