Four schools in the Murray electorate granted federal solar funding
February 7, 2012
Four schools in the Murray electorate have recently been granted the Federal Government’s National Solar Schools Program funding for up to $50,000.
Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray expresses her heartfelt congratulations to the following schools that were successful:
Sacred Heart Primary School, Yarrawonga
St Joseph’s Primary School, Nagambie
St Mary’s Primary School, Rushworth
Wunghnu Primary School
“The funding will assist the schools to install solar and other renewable power systems, rainwater tanks and a range of energy efficiency measures.”
“The successful schools had to demonstrate value for money, educational and environmental benefits. Additional weighting was given to schools from more remote areas.
“Regional schools now have to work twice as hard as their city counterparts to prove their worth as recipients of federal funds.
“I strongly encourage all schools that were unsuccessful in the last funding round to apply for the 2012-2013 funding. This funding round will open on 13 February 2012. This will be the final round for schools to apply for the grant,” said Dr Stone.
