Jobs and Skills Expo comes to Shepparton this Friday

November 23, 2011

This Friday, Shepparton will host the very successful Jobs and Skills Expo at the Shepparton Sports Stadium, 120 Numurkah Road from 10am to 3pm.

Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray, is encouraging all job seekers, students and business owners to come along and see firsthand the range of career and training pathways on offer.

“This year the expo has 80 exhibitors, well up on last year, all providing information and including the Australian Defence Force and Victoria Police Force. Local businesses have really supported the Expo and are keen to demonstrate the jobs and career paths on offer locally, “Sharman Stone said.

“The Expo provides an opportunity for both job seekers and employers to connect with each other under the same roof all on one day. Since the expos began in 2009 over 154 000 job seekers have been able to connect with 3000 businesses and training organisations from around Australia.

“Last year many job seekers were placed in a job or training positions after attending the expo and talking directly with the exhibitors,” Sharman said.

“Students are encouraged to attend to check out the range of career possibilities.

“I encourage as many as possible to come along and experience this great opportunity to explore career options. A free sausage sizzle is also available.

“If you would like some more information you can visit humanservices.gov.au/expos or contact my office on 5821 5371,” Sharman Stone said.
