Murray Carers Contribution Acknowledged
October 17, 2011
Dr Sharman Stone today welcomed the start of Carers Week 2011 and thanked carers across the electorate for the enormous contribution they make.
Carers Week 2011 is celebrated between Sunday 16 October and Saturday 22 October.
“Anyone, Anytime can be a Carer,” is the theme for Carers week this year. Carers are of all ages, many backgrounds and come from all lifestyles in Australia.
“We have many carers in Murray who dedicate up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to provide care, love and support to someone they care for,” said Dr Stone.
“Many Australians who are frail, have a disability, an illness or chronic condition would not be able to continue living at home or participate in the community without the support of their Carer.
“Carers week is an opportunity to acknowledge the enormous contribution that carers make to our community and to the people they care for.
“We should recognise the millions of Australians, young and old, who care for a family member or friend,” said Sharman Stone.
