Legacy Ladies win Veterans Grants funding

A local Legacy Widows Club in Murray will benefit from Veteran and Community Grants support, despite the Gillard Government’s dramatic funding cuts to this program.

“The dedicated ladies of the Yarrawonga Mulwala Legacy Widows Club will benefit from $3000 in Grants funding that will be used for some bus trips to bring people together in particular those who live alone,” Federal Member for Murray Dr Sharman Stone said.

“I congratulate Legacy on their successful application.” Sharman Stone said.

"Unfortunately, this Grants initiative, coupled with the Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) programme has been withdrawn by the Gillard-Brown Labor Government.

"Instead Prime Minister Gillard and Senator Brown are going to spend $12 million on advertisements to promote their Carbon Tax

It is important to help our voluntary groups who do so much great work in the community.

For further information on any community funding opportunities, you can contact Sharman Stone’s office on 03 5821 5371 or visit grantslink.gov.au
