Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone, is urging all local students and parents who may be impacted by the changes to the Youth Allowance scheme to attend the Government’s Review of Student Income Reforms Support roundtable discussion in Shepparton.

Applications are now open and being accepted for the Community Heritage Grants program. This program provides grants of up to $15,000 to community organisations such as museums, historical societies, multicultural and Indigenous groups and libraries.

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has recommended closing some of the polling places in the Division of Murray. They argue that there are only a small number of voters at these booths and there are nearby alternatives. The places under the axe include:
Caniambo (56 votes), Tennyson (89 votes), Yarrawalla South (78 votes) and Yielima (135 votes).

On Wednesday Dr Sharman Stone spoke to a special condolence motion in Parliament to recognise the losses in New Zealand as a consequence of the Christchurch earthquake.

The Federal Government is now accepting applications from organisations who wish to apply for Tourism Quality (TQUAL) grants. Tourism Quality projects provide funding of up to $100,000 on a matching dollar basis. The grant applications will be independently assessed.
