It was shocking to hear today that a huge parcel of land has been sold to an off-shore owned mining company, Shenhua Watermark Coal who have picked up 43 farms on some of the best soils in Australia in northern New South Wales.

The Exceptional Circumstances Exit Grant is available to eligible farmers who have to sell their farms. It is targeted at low-income and low-asset farmers.
Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone has been informed that the scheme may end before 30 June 2012 if funds are allocated before that date.

Murray residents are being encouraged to talk to one another about tissue donations, especially in the family.

The total ban on live animal exports announced by the Gillard Labor Government has put the economy of northern Australia at extreme risk, but also has local implications.

Woolworths announced last week that their generic private label drinking milk has now been re-tendered and Murray Goulburn Co-Operative will continue to supply all their store brand milk in southern NSW and northern Victoria.

About 15 local fruit growers travelled from the Goulburn Valley to Parliament House in Canberra today to meet with politicians and called for support to help keep fire blight out of Australia.
Federal Member for Murray, Dr. Sharman Stone said that in a crowd of over one hundred, the growers brought home the message that the Labor Government has given up on the job of protecting Australian fruit.

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is cutting corners in order to cover the cost of their blowouts.
