Launch of Boort Tourism Strategic Plan
January 23, 2012
Dr Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray, officially launched the Boort Tourism Strategic Plan on Friday 20 January 2012 at the beautiful Old Boort Court House.
The plan was developed in a combined community effort between the Loddon Shire and the Boort Tourism Group. The primary goal is to attract more visitors to Boort. The plan covers a range of initiatives such as continuing to develop Boort’s tourism products and services, further developing traders’ skills in customer service, continuing to market and promote the Boort District.
“Boort is a wonderful country town with the oldest harness racing venue in the state, the wonderful Boort lakes, wildlife, walking trails, sporting venues and excellent books.
“I have great honour in launching this plan because it certainly promotes the wonderful attractions at Boort, thereby increasing tourism and diversifying the economy”, said Sharman Stone.
The Boort Tourism Group has said that as part of the strategic plan it would be developing a comprehensive website detailing everything about Boort and its lovely tourist attractions.
“The launch saw a great turn out from the community and I am so pleased to be part of wonderful events such as these that really demonstrate what regional Victoria has got to offer,” said Sharman Stone.
