Success for Wedderburn Men’s Shed: More funding available
October 3, 2011
Sharman Stone, Federal Member for Murray congratulates the Wedderburn Men’s Shed for their successful application for a grant of $4000 under the Australian Government Shed Development Program.
There were 25 sheds funded in the program's second round of funding. Men’s Sheds have become a great place for men as well as some women to make a whole range of fantastic household goods and children's toys. They are a great way to share some companionship and to pass on skills.
The Wedderburn Men's shed will be able to use the grant to buy more equipment including tools, a wood lathe with bowl jar, chucks and chisels.
The students of Wedderburn Secondary College have also been mentored by members of the Wedderburn Men's Shed. This is a great way to pass on skills from one generation to the next and also to have different generations keep in touch.
Dr Stone congratulated those who applied for the grant and who have done so well.
Round three of the Men’s Shed funding grant is now open. Funding is available under three categories; Category 1: Tools & Equipment to a maximum of $4,000 (GST excl), Category 2: Building Maintenance & Development to a maximum of $6,000(GST excl) Category 3: Shed Activities & Programs to a maximum of $5,000 (GST excl). Applications close at 5pm October 28, 2011.
