Government Grants: do you qualify?
Northern Victorian volunteer organisations needing funding for community-based projects may be just a mouse click away from financial assistance at GrantsLINK.
If you are the secretary or treasurer of an organisation in the Murray electorate, Grantslink.gov.au can direct you to government grants – at all three levels, local council, state and federal.
Federal Member for Murray Sharman Stone encourages local community groups, to watch the site for areas that may relate to their club’s or group’s activities.
“We have so many great clubs and organisations in Murray with great ideas. Yet many local organisations often struggle to raise funds. A grant can make all the difference.” Sharman Stone said. “They are always highly competitive, but you have to be in it to win it.”
“The small equipment grants, now called Volunteer Grants are particularly useful. They occur once a year.
“There are three grants which may be of interest to locals:
Firstly, the Health and Hospitals Fund 2011 Regional Priority Round. This grant is asking for submissions from private business, the general public and non-government sectors looking to invest in infrastructure in the Health industry. Submissions close on 19 October 2011.
Thirdly, the Regional Development Australia Fund supports local government and non-profit groups to develop a business plan that helps regional communities plan for the future.
Submissions will open in November.
For further information, you can always speak with my office on 03 5821 5371. If you require a letter of support for your organisation applying for a grant please contact my office.” Sharman Stone said.
