Business Flood Recovery Fund

The Victorian Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VECCI) has put together a business recovery fund available for small businesses affected by the Victorian floods, and they are calling for more applicants.

Federal Member for Murray, Dr. Sharman Stone is encouraging small businesses in the electorate of Murray who have been affected by the floods to apply. The applications need to be in by Tuesday 31 May 2011.

“The VECCI relief fund provides short term emergency funding for businesses that can show that they have lost income due to the recent floods.

Some eligibility criteria include:-

• You employ less than 100 full time employees;
• You have an ABN;
• You have been operating the business in the flooded area up to and including the date of flood;
• You have not been given significant funding from some other source e.g. government, private or donated;
• The business owner needs to demonstrate loss of income as a consequence of and since the floods.
 

“With many of our local communities and businesses still feeling the effects and recovering from the floods it is good to know there is some small business support available.

“Many people have not been aware of these VECCI grants and they are well worth checking out. I urge businesses to look up the website and obtain the application form.

“We need our small businesses in places like Rochester, Pyramid Hill, Bridgewater, Dingee and Korong Vale to bounce back from the floods as soon as possible,” Sharman Stone said.
